I’ve always believed that some books don’t just get chosen — they arrive exactly when you need them.
It’s happened to me more than once.
I’ll be wandering through a bookstore or library, not looking for anything in particular, when my eye catches a title I’ve never seen before. Sometimes it’s the cover art, sometimes it’s the first line I read when I flip it open, but something says, “This one’s for you.”
And then, a chapter or two in, I realize the story is speaking directly to the moment I’m living.
Maybe it’s a reminder I didn’t know I needed.
Maybe it’s a character going through something I’ve just been through myself.
Maybe it’s a world so different from mine that it gives me the distance to finally breathe.
These are the books I hold closest. They feel less like entertainment and more like a gentle nudge from the universe, telling me I’m not alone.
I think that’s why reading can feel so magical — the right story at the right time can shift your whole perspective.
So I’m curious… has this ever happened to you?
Have you ever stumbled on a book and realized it was exactly the story you needed in that season of your life?
If so, I’d love to know what it was — maybe your “right time” book will be exactly what another reader needs right now.
Here’s to the serendipity of stories.
